ABOUT
...Neptune the Mystic, Jupiter the Bringer of Jollity...
JSO collaborates with the Evergreen Women's Chorale to bring you Holst's "The Planets" -- a heavenly seven-movement work for extended orchestra.
Also programmed is one of Maurice Ravel's first major works, "Rapsodie espagnole," which draws dance-like inspiration from the French composer's fascination with Spain. "Danzon No. 2" keeps the symphony dancing with Mexican composer Arturo Marquez' tribute to Afro-Cuban culture and urban rhythms.
