Mendelssohn  Bruch • Berlioz

Our February concert features JSO with conductor Arturo Gonzalez performing orchestral masterpieces — Berlioz's epic Symphonie fantastique and Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No 1. In the notes to his visionary score, Berlioz writes: "The composer's intention has been to develop various episodes in the life of an artist, in so far as they lend themselves to musical treatment."

Dvořák  Prokofiev

Meet our 2023 Young Artist, Hans-Derek Yu, who performs Prokofiev's electrifying Piano Concerto #3 with JSO upon winning our Young Artist Competition. Led by Colorado conductor Scott O'Neil, the program also features the Eighth Symphony by Dvořák. In this symphony, the composer uses the orchestra to depict bird calls, a passing storm, rousing folk dances, and gentle breezes — it's sheer joy!

Márquez  Brahms  Beethoven

Beethoven considered the Seventh Symphony his "most excellent symphony." The slow movement, perhaps the most enthralling, has had a profound impression on listeners from the beginning — it's simply irresistible! Our season finale, led by conductor Cynthia Katsarelis, also spotlights Colorado artist Alex Gonzalez performing Brahms' captivating Violin Concerto.

Jefferson Symphony proudly returns to the Colorado School of Mines

Green Center for our entire season of symphony concert performances.
