What's interesting
about this concert...
-
Pianist Katie Mahan is particularly distinguished as an interpreter of the music of George Gershwin. Her greatest pianistic influence came from her studies with the celebrated French pianist Pascal Rogé, with whom she studied the music of the French Impressionists.

-
A century of Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue is celebrating its 100th anniversary! Composed in 1924, it is a groundbreaking, genre-fusing piece that blends elements of classical music with jazz and blues.

-
In "El Salón México," Aaron Copland draws inspiration from Mexican folk music and dance forms. The piece captures the lively and vibrant atmosphere of a Mexican dance hall, or "salón," through its rhythmic and melodic elements.

The Green Center is a unique building on Colorado School of Mines campus and serves the area as both a community events center and as a campus event facility. As the largest auditorium in Jefferson County, the Green Center seats 1,100 patrons in traditional fully upholstered retracting theater seats.
FREE ADMISSION for all Mines students, faculty and staff! Tickets available day-of with Mines I.D.
