Jefferson Symphony programs five classical concerts each season in addition to showcase recitals, artist competitions, and free summer events.

In a letter to audience members, Dr. William Morse writes: "The "Enchanted Garden" movement from the Mother Goose Suite, by Maurice Ravel, was one of the many pieces considered for a virtual performance. There are many things to consider when attempting a project of this nature. First and foremost: is it a musically rewarding piece worthy of a large time commitment? Also very important, are musicians enjoying the practice and preparation of their video recording that they will submit? The most important result is the enjoyment of participating in the project. It is meant to bring pleasure, to be fun, and also to be musically rewarding, and something for which we will all to be proud. Please enjoy!

"Hello Maestro!" starts Daniel Gostein, who won our 61st Young Artist Competition in January 2020. Daniel messaged that he is actively performing and recording from home, and shares with our audience his newest music: "Heavy Circles" for marimba.
"I have hand-picked some very notable performances of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony. My intent is to provide you with a pleasant and entertaining substitute and I have chosen excellent performances of this season's repertoire."

The Jefferson Symphony Orchestra and friends continued through Christmas 2020 collaborating through digital apps and video recordings -- you will enjoy over 40 minutes of music and many, many Holiday and Christmas tunes in this virtual program. Special guest artists include Christie Conover, soprano, James Baumgardner, tenor, and Peggy Lyon, piano.
November 2020
In November, over thirty JSO musicians turned their houses and living spaces into at-home recording studios. Each member recorded their individual part to the stirring third section of Tchaikovsky's famous Serenade for Strings. "It's our way of wishing you the gift of a happy holiday season. I'm quite impressed with the teamwork involved," says Maestro William Morse.
October 2020
To commemorate our 68th Season, Maestro William Morse prepared this uniquely-curated set of music paired with guest recordings by Masakazu Ito. The newsletter below contains the entire playlist and features two recordings performed by Masakazu Ito: Sakura and Gran Jota "The original song [Sakura] is about magnificent view of the sky and fields filled with cherry petals as far as you can see during the spring time. What makes this piece an unquestionable success is the way he utilizes traditional guitar techniques such as arpeggios, harmonics and tremolo very efficiently," says Ito.
